What is illumi?

illumi is an outdoor and nocturnal adventure through 13 universes built with the magic of light. Inventive concepts are transposed into thousands of larger-than-life light structures lit with 20 million LED bulbs. Illumi offers an epic adventure for kids and adults alike. Cutting-edge programming technologies and high-definition projections blur the boundaries of reality. Thousands of light sculptures and soundtracks immerse visitors in Hollywood film scenes. The Tree of Light draws people in from all around to see illumi. The tradition begins in Mississauga with the GTA premiere  of the largest light, sound, and multimedia show in the world!

How much time does it take to complete the journey?

Allow approximately 75 minutes to take in all of illumi’s scenes. This is an estimate and subject to change based on attendance.

Is it possible to buy food and drinks at illumi?

During your visit, you can grab a bite to eat at the food trucks parked on site or at one of the illumi points of sale. There are also bars and service counters for snacks and souvenirs. Please note that no outside food may be brought onto the illumi site. Please note that all illumi points of sales and food trucks are cashless. We only accept payments by debit card and credit card (Visa and Mastercard).

Is there parking available on the Illumi site?

There are parking lots near the entrance to the site which are accessible on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking is free of charge and spots cannot be reserved ahead of your visit.

Given illumi’s popularity, especially on weekends and during high season, we recommend that you plan more time to arrive on site. We also strongly encourage you to use public transportation to get to illumi.

Is there a shuttle from the parking lots to the illumi site?

As the entrance to the illumi site is a 2-minute walk from our parking lots, we do not offer a shuttle service.

Are pets allowed on the illumi site?

Only properly identified service dogs are authorized at all times. However, selected evenings are organized so that visitors can walk through the New Dazzling World of Lights with their dog on a leash. The schedule of our Doggie Nights and the rules to follow will be posted on our “Schedule and Rates” page in the near future.

How can I get back an item lost at illumi?

Notify us of items lost at the illumi site by sending a message through the “
Contact Us” page on our website. Please note that perishable items and food will not be kept.

What restaurants are near the illumi site?

What is illumi's address?

illumi – a dazzling world of lights is located in North Mississauga. The main intersection is Hurontario St. and Derry Rd. It is on the east side of Hurontario and the north side of Derry. The address is 7174 Derrycrest Drive, Mississauga, ON L5W 1N4.

What are illumi’s opening hours?

illumi is an evening event, with the magic starting at nightfall. Opening hours and schedules vary weekly.  Hours are also subject to change based on dates, visitor traffic and special occasions. You can look up Illumi’s complete schedule on the “Schedule and Rates” page by clicking here

Will illumi be closed if there is inclement weather?

The illumi site will remain open in all weather conditions. For safety reasons, we may have to cancel certain activities in extreme wind conditions or an exceptional storm. Should such an event occur, announcements will be posted on social media and on illumi’s website. Unless we announce otherwise, we will welcome you in any kind of weather.

If you are concerned about the weather, you have the option to add WEATHER INSURANCE to your ticket at the time of purchase. For just $5 extra per ticket. you will be able to exchange your original ticket for a different date and time slot if there is inclement weather. In this case, follow the instructions received at the time of purchase.

What is weather insurance?

If you are concerned about the weather, you have the option to add WEATHER INSURANCE to your ticket at the time of purchase. For just $5 extra per ticket you will be able to exchange your original ticket for a different date and time slot if there is inclement weather. In this case, follow the instructions received at the time of purchase.

What is the FLEX OPTION?

If you wish to be able to exchange your ticket for another date or another time slot for any reason, we suggest that you add a FLEX OPTION voucher to your ticket at the time of purchase. For just $10 extra per ticket you will be able to exchange your original ticket for a different date and time slot. The FLEX OPTION must be added to the ticket during the initial purchase. It cannot be added later, without exception. The FLEX OPTION also includes the benefits of our WEATHER INSURANCE. Please note that THE FLEX OPTION can only be used once.

Can I get to illumi using public transit?

Yes, illumi is accessible using GO Bus Routes 33 and 48, MiWay routes 6, 17, 18, 42, and 103. It is also accessible through Züm routes 6, 7 and 502. Please consult your preferred transit map to find the best route for you.

If I show up late, can I still take the journey?

It is very important that you organize your travel to arrive at the illumi entrance gate at the time indicated on your ticket. If you arrive late, we unfortunately will not be able to guarantee your entrance because we have a capacity limit for each time slot to ensure a magical experience for all.

Is smoking or vaping allowed at illumi?

illumi is a non-smoking site. Smoking and vaping are prohibited during your visit.

What hotels are near the illumi site?

If you plan on spending a night or two in Mississauga for your illumi visit, we recommend visiting the Tourism Mississauga website for the best accommodation options in the area by clicking here. illumi is located in the Derry West region.

Tickets & rates

Where can I purchase tickets?

Tickets for illumi are on sale exclusively online. Click here to access the “Schedule and Rates” page to begin your reservation. Note that it is mandatory to purchase tickets in advance and reserve them online to have access to the desired date, time slot and experience. In order to control the flow of visitors to guarantee a pleasant visit by avoiding any congestion on the site, a limited number of entries are available per day, per time slot and per type of experience.

How much are the tickets?

The rates vary depending on the experience, the visitor’s age category and the date and time slot. The rates represent the latest prices for each evening based on visitor traffic. Please check out the rate chart on the “Schedule and Rates” page by clicking here.

What is an open ticket?

This type of ticket gives you the opportunity to choose the date and time slot of your choice for the illumi experience without having to book in advance.

We have issued a limited number of open tickets. Hurry before they all disappear!

Do I have to print my e-tickets?

You can present your e-tickets with their unique bar code from your mobile device at the illumi entrance. Make sure your device is charged and please increase the screen brightness to maximum. If you choose to print your e-tickets, we will be able to scan them upon entry.

Can I offer illumi tickets as a gift?

Why are ticket prices higher on weekends than on weekdays?

Demand-based ticket prices are in keeping with our policy that, “The more tickets available for a given evening, the more favourable the prices will be.” Ticket prices reflect the most recent price for each evening based on demand. Prices are subject to change without prior notice. Please note that tickets are non-exchangeable and non-refundable. All sales are final.

If I cannot make it due to an unforeseeable event, can I use my ticket on another day?

No. illumi tickets are non-transferable, non-exchangeable and non-refundable. All sales are final.

Are promotional codes available?

Promotional codes are not available for illumi tickets.

Why do I need to select a time slot?

We ask you to select a time slot so that we can control the flow of visitors and guarantee an optimal experience while preventing traffic congestion on the site.

What is the procedure for purchasing tickets online?

Tickets for illumi are on sale exclusively online. Click here to access the “Schedule and Rates” page to begin your reservation. When you buy your tickets online, you will receive a purchase confirmation by email and your electronic tickets in PDF format in a second email. You can present your e-tickets with their unique bar code at the entrance to the illumi site.

Is there a special group rate?

Can I change my ticket date and/or time slot?

Once you have completed your purchase, you cannot change your ticket date or time slot. illumi tickets are non-exchangeable and non-refundable. All sales are final.

If you wish to be able to exchange your ticket for another date or another time slot for any reason, we suggest that you add a FLEX OPTION voucher to your ticket at the time of purchase. Can I go through illumi more than once?

It is not possible to repeat the journey with the same ticket. One admission per ticket.

If your website indicates that a date or time slot is sold-out, will same-day tickets be available at the entrance of illumi?

Tickets for illumi are on sale exclusively online. Please note that ticket availability on our website is adjusted in real time. If a time slot indicates “sold-out”, no further tickets will be available for that slot. We have limited our capacity for each time slot to ensure a magical experience for all.

Can I pick up my purchased tickets at the entrance of illumi?

It is not possible to pick up your purchased tickets at the entrance of illumi. You can present your e-tickets with their unique bar code from your mobile device at the entrance to the illumi site. Make sure your device is charged and increase the screen brightness to maximum. You can also print your e-tickets and present them at the entrance of illumi where they will be scanned by an agent.

Can I purchase same-day tickets?

You can purchase same-day tickets online a few hours before visiting the site if there are still tickets available. Please note that ticket availability on our website is adjusted in real time. If a time slot indicates “sold-out”, no further tickets will be available for that time slot, regardless of whether you purchase tickets in person or online. To ensure a magical experience for all, we have limited our capacity for each time slot.

For tickets purchased in person at the box office, an additional charge of $5 per ticket will be applied.

Family & children

Does a 2 years old or younger child need a ticket?

Children aged under 2 years old have free entry.  You do not need a ticket for your toddler under the age of 2 years old. 

Are there strollers for rent on the Illumi site?

No, strollers are not available for rent on the Illumi site.

Is the experience stroller-accessible?

illumi is open to families with strollers or small sleds. During the winter months, snow removal will take place frequently so that all visitors can enjoy their experience to the fullest.

Visitors with
reduced mobility

Is illumi accessible for visitors with reduced mobility?

The walking path is accessible for persons with reduced mobility. During the winter months, frequent snow removal will take place so that all our visitors can enjoy their experience to the fullest.

Are there wheelchairs for rent on the Illumi site?

No, wheelchairs are not available for rent on the Illumi site.

Does the companion of a visitor with reduced mobility have to pay for his or her ticket?

illumi is pleased to offer a free pass to the companion of a person with reduced mobility who has purchased a ticket for the New Dazzling World of Lights. The companion will receive free admission upon presenting their Access 2 card at our box office located near the pedestrian entrance. The companion must go to the box office on site in Mississauga to get their special ticket.

During the journey

Are there restrooms along the route?

During your visit, restrooms will be accessible on site.

Is there a place to make purchases on the site?

During your visit, you can grab a bite to eat at the food trucks parked on site or at one of the illumi points of sale. Can I turn around and go back along the path?

It is not allowed to go in the opposite direction of the pedestrian traffic. You can wander at your leisure among the light structures in the same world before moving on to the next. Should you need to cut your visit short, there are clearly identified paths to take that will allow you to leave.

Are there heated spaces?

Visitors will have access to Warm Up Areas on site.

Is alcohol allowed on the illumi site?

Alcohol may not be brought onto the illumi site. Only visitors over the age of 19 can purchase alcohol at the illumi points of sale and they must consume it on site.

Are there emergency exits on the illumi site?

Emergency exits are clearly indicated. If you need to use an emergency exit, please notify an illumi team member for any assistance you may need.

What you should know

How should I prepare for the illumi experience?

Here are a few tips to optimize your adventure:

  • Dress appropriately for the evening’s weather conditions so you are comfortable enough to be totally dazzled by the illumi experience, no matter the forecast!
  • It can get very windy on the illumi site. Dress warmly!
  • Wear comfortable shoes that are appropriate for the weather (in case of rain, snow or other winter conditions)
  • Remember that the immersive journey takes about 75 minutes to complete. You cannot go back the way you came or re-enter once you’ve left the site. Do not leave warm clothes in the car, bring them with you.
  • Make sure your phone battery is fully charged so that you can capture all the magical moments in pictures and videos.
